72 days until Halloween and we here at The Spooked Chicken are ecstatic, as we are sure most of our readers are as well. That in mind The Spooked Chicken is set to investigate for a haunting the team has have been very excited for the Ada Witch.
Urban legend or fact?
The Ada Witch has been part of Western Michigan's culture for over 150 years. The story has every element of a mystery turned into a haunting. Murder, lust, and revenge all play out to create this horror that is the Ada Witch. Since that night full of murder, lust and revenge, the Ada Witch has brought many paranormal investigators from all over the country, most of whom share the story of seeing the Ada Witch.
Sometime in the 1800's...
The urban legend begins with a husband who suspects his wife is being unfaithful. The story goes that this man followed his wife as she was running her errands. Between stopping for her errands and being friendly with all the people she came in contact with the husband started to become more relaxed believing his menacing thoughts were his own. However, as the night drew closer and dusk was becoming, the man still was following his wife. She lead him into the woods next to Sideman Park. As the husband was paying close attention he saw his wife and her lover meet and begin the process of infidelity.
Rage filled the husband as he approached them he first killed his wife. Then he turned his attention onto her lover. However, they seemed very close in skill with combat. For an hour they fought, blow after blow taking a little from each other as the sun was setting. Each hit taking more from themselves and by the time the sun sank into the horizon both men lay dead from their injury's sustained from their battle.
So there lay three people. A husband, a wife and an estranged lover. All covered in blood. All dead from their sins.
Modern Day...
The story only gathers more and more following as the years go past. Between the paranormal investigations that now take place at Findlay Cemetery and the sightings from the locals each year, boast new evidence that this women is still looking for her lover. Findlay Cemetery is where the legend says that the bodies of the husband, wife and lover all lay to rest today. Many locals and paranormal investigators would say that one thing is for sure, these spirits do not indeed rest.
It has been noted that along 2nd Mile Road an apparition of a women, fitting the description of the Ada Witch can be seen. Findlay Cemetery is located along 2nd Mile Road. The same apparition can be seen along Honey Creek, which is where the legend says the body of the women was found. Honey Creek is not to far from Conservation Avenue, where many hunters over they years have had their shoulders touched and their coats pulled only to turn around and see no one is there.
With the people who have seen the witch, all the stories spin the same tail. A women in a white or blue dress with with long, flowing hair.
The Spooked Chicken is set to investigate the popular Findlay Cemetery September 21st. The team is excited to help write another chapter into this famous, Michigan, urban legend. Who knows, maybe the team can capture the infamous Ada Witch.
